The Library’s Parade Planning Committee decided on a tropical “Cowboys on Vacation” theme to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Frontier Days. Decorated with waves, beach floaties, and a sailboat, the committee made the float have a boat floating in tropical waters on a sunny day. Library staff wore Hawaiian t-shirts, flower leis, and cowboy hats to relax in style while the library’s director David Votta dressed as a ship captain to lead the way. Mommy Shark from the children’s song “Baby Shark” made a guest appearance.

The Parade Planning Committee created cardboard pieces at the Library for weeks before assembling the actual float on Labor Day. They taped, painted, and organized the float while enjoying pizza and listening to our public Staff Picks Spotify playlist. Library Board member Keith Tirrell helped us every step of the way, from letting us borrow one of his wagons to providing us a place to store the wagon during set up. Keith also put us in contact with John Hotchkiss, who pulled our float on his Farmall 300 and joined us in our tropical attire.
Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the parade with us! We hope to see you again soon. In the meantime, enjoy these photos of our tropical 50th anniversary parade float!
