Hello, my name is Brynda Filkins, and I am president of the Friends of the Charlotte Community Library. Our Friends group helps support the Library with projects, funding, a book sale, and special events during the year. I am so excited to tell you about an upcoming presentation you do not want to miss!
Pat Campion is a gem! She is a former elementary teacher, holds positions in many local organizations, authored seven books on Charlotte’s homes, people and businesses, and is a member of the Friends of the Library.
Pat will be here with us in the Spartan Room of the Library on April 9 at 1:00 to present, “Libraries in Charlotte.” Pat has prepared a special pictorial presentation, just for the Charlotte Community Library, highlighting the history of the Library from the 1800’s and the Carnegie Library (and its secret room) to the current library building on Bostwick Street.
Did you know that the Library moved from business to business in the 1880’s? Why was the first Library built and who funded it? What businesses were in the current Library and what other buildings were on Bostwick Street? Join us as we see and hear an interesting and informative history of libraries in our community. Bring your questions for Pat; she is a wealth of knowledge.
