The Library recently made some updates to its parking lot. In addition to a new surface and revamped striping, it included two enhanced features, an electric vehicle charger and hitching post for horse and buggies, to serve different parts of the community.

The Library installed the electric vehicle charger with help from Team One Chevrolet, rebate money from Consumer’s Energy, and a private donation. This industrial charger is made to be outside year round. It can service two cars at once. The Library is evaluating the use and cost to determine if and what the charge to users might be. Right now, there is no charge.

The Amish regularly use the Library and frequently park their buggies in the lot. Working with an Amish welder, the Library commissioned and installed a hitching-post with dedicated buggy parking. The Library received input on the location of the hitching-post from multiple Amish so that it would be convenient for them to come and go.

The Library’s goal is to make the facility and services a reflection of the community. It aspires that everyone will be welcomed. With these new features to the parking lot, the Library is able to welcome different users. Moving forward the Library will continue to look for ways to better serve our entire community.
