We recently hired a new Adult Services/Local History Librarian, Sara Horn.

She is no stranger to Charlotte. Sara earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from Olivet College and went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Maryland. After spending four years on the East Coast, Sara moved back to Michigan right before the pandemic. She is looking forward to bringing back in-person adult programs and establishing a stronger local history collection here in Charlotte. When not at the library, you can usually find Sara spending time with her family, reading, crafting and exploring/travelling.

Let’s get to know her even more.

You like to travel. What’s one place you really want to go?

I really want to go to Egypt. I’ve been fascinated by ancient Egypt since I can remember. I also blame the movie The Mummy for my fascination.

What’s your to-go-to genre?

Mostly romance, but lately I’ve been grabbing fantasy Young Adult novels.

Have any comfort foods you care to share?

I would have to say either a home cooked meal of pork steaks, potatoes, and a veggie or a big bowl of kid cereal, such as Lucky Charms or Captain Crunch.

What’s your favorite Dewey number?

900s. But it’s a toss-up between the 930s (ancient history), 940s (European history) and 970s (North American history).

Coffee or tea?

Neither. I usually drink water, occasionally a pop and maybe hot chocolate in the winter.

Fall or Winter or Spring or Summer?

Fall-nice weather and outdoor activities are more fun.

Dogs or cats?

Dogs

Series or stand-alones?

Series. I don’t like the search for a new book all the time.

Lastly, tell the truth:

UM or MSU?

Depends on the sport!

Make sure to stop by and say hello!
