Computer Class Descriptions

All classes are 2 hours long and require registration. Pre-registration is required. You may call the Library at 543-8859 or complete the form at the bottom of the page and click Submit to sign up.

The Charlotte Community Library reserves the right to cancel a training session if the registrant minimum is not met.

Introduction to Computers
Students will learn the layout of the computer, open and close programs, save files to folders, and do searches on the Internet using Google. This class is for people new to computer use.

 

Introduction to Windows 10
Learn how to use Microsoft’s current operating system. You must have a familiarity with the computer and keyboard for this training.

 

Storing Your Photos
Learn how to move photos from your camera or phone to a storage device or the Cloud. You must have a familiarity with the computer and keyboard for this training.

 

Online Buying and Selling
Covers Craigslist, eBay, Etsy and other online sellers. A basic knowledge and familiarity with the computer and keyboard is required for this training.

 

Hoopla
Learn how to use our latest app for downloading movies, eBooks, audiobooks and more. Must have a familiarity with computer and keyboard

 

Introduction to Facebook
Session covers how to post an entry, upload photos, privacy and other introductory features of Facebook. You will be working in your own personal Facebook account. If you don’t have an account, you must plan on coming to class 15 minutes early for help in creating an account.

 

Google Training
We will learn many of the functions of Google, a popular Internet search engine. Increase your searching ability with this fast moving fun look at the newest and niftiest features of Internet searching.

 

Gmail
Training will include how to set up a Google Gmail account, opening mail, composing mail, replying to and forwarding mail. A basic knowledge of the computer and the keyboard is required for this class.

 

Computer Security
Learn how to protect yourself from cyber-threats, learn safe browsing habits, install virus protection (and the best programs to use), apply updates, and keep your computer backed up. Before you take this training, you should be comfortable making changes to your computer, and have a basic knowledge of Windows.

Introduction to Photo Editing
This class will use free software from the Internet to edit personal photos. We will cover loading photos to your computer, basic editing, using effects, embellishing photos, and adding text to photos. You are welcome to bring copies of your personal photos to download and work on in class. A basic knowledge of the computer and keyboard is absolutely required for this class.

 

Senior Computer Training
We will cover practical topics to help you gain confidence using the computer and Internet.
